Chapter 6: The Royal Notables of Atlantia

The Atlantian Arts & Sciences Handbook

While the selection and conduct of the Royal Notables is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Arts and Sciences, the office does have oversight to ensure that the cycle of contests is maintained. Each year there are several persons who are given one of the following titles: the Arts and Sciences Champion, the Royal Bard, the Royal Baker, the Royal Brewer, the Poeta Atlantiae, and the Scrivener Royal (oversight belongs to the Clerk Signet office), which are known collectively as Kingdom Notables.

The title of Kingdom Notable carries a responsibility to promote and encourage the craft for which the
title was given, to entertain the Crown’s whims,[1]See Appendix E of the Atlantian Great Book of Law to read the Charter for the Atlantian Kingdom Notables. and is selected by the crown. Once selected, new Notables will be asked to contact the Notables Liaison Deputy Minister of Arts and Sciences, who will then update associated web pages.

The Charter for Royal Notables is in an appendix in the Atlantian Great Book of Laws. Specifics about the selection process, duties and responsibilities are provided there.

The Poeta Atlantiae is selected for excellence in composition of poetry in at least two period forms, in period styles regarding both material and structure, and acts as the personal poet of the Crown.
