Chapter 8: Atlantian Publications

Atlantian Arts & Sciences Handbook

The Local Newsletter

If the branch has a local newsletter, this is another great way for individuals to teach. Some people are not comfortable with getting up in front of people but are perfectly happy to write about what they know, draw a picture, or illustrate a point. Talk with the local Chronicler to find out what their requirements for submission are. Most Chroniclers will be delighted to include information in their newsletter. Some branches have even gotten so many submissions that they publish an Arts and Science edition of their newsletter!

The Oak

The Oak was the Atlantia A&S newsletter published in paper form that ended in 2015. It is being revived in an online format. Watch this space.

Tournaments Illuminated and The Compleat Anachronist

Tournaments Illuminated is a quarterly publication of the SCA, Inc., publishing material that furthers research, education, and living history recreation in the field of pre-seventeenth-century Western culture.

The Compleat Anachronist is a pamphlet series published quarterly by the SCA, Inc. Each issue focuses on a topic relevant to the time period 600 C.E. to 1600 C.E. The Compleat Anachronist therefore gives readers an opportunity to review a subject in more detail than Tournaments Illuminated or a local newsletter can provide.

To submit articles for consideration for these publications, contact the editor. Subscriptions for Tournaments Illuminated and The Compleat Anachronist are available as options with a Sustaining Membership, and back issues may be purchased from the Stock Clerk.
