Tournament Companies

The year is 1391, in the month of May. We are a group of French knights who, having been deeply moved by the noble deed of arms performed by 3 of our brothers the previous year at the field of St. Inglevert near Calais, have decided to hold a tournament to commemorate that deed. To that end we have undertaken this enterprise for the purpose of said commemoration and have taken a vow of chivalry to give noble combat to all comers who would take the field. The tournament will last for 3 days, during which time there will be games of horsemanship, as well as deeds of arms on foot and on horse.

A forum for members of tournament companies active both in and outside of the SCA. Tourney companies are small groups of medieval re-enactors interested in the fostering of chivalric conduct and authenticity in the re-enactment of medieval feats of arms.

We of the Company of Saint Michael love well all that pertains to tournament s and noble deeds of arms. We equip ourselves, as closely as we can, like the men-at-arm s who would have fought in such contests, and the good people who would have watched them. We do so because it gives us joy, but also that others may see the delight that comes from such good customs, so that noble deeds of arms and the proper practice of arms may become more common, to the greater advancemen t of arms, and the profit of all.

We are organized as a tournament society, composed not of knights and squires alone, but also gentle ladies, and good heralds, and all the gentlemen needful to carrying out noble deeds of arms.

Recreates aspects of the medieval tournament along with related living history activities from the second half of the 14th century (1350-1400 AD). The group specialises in jousting and its development as a modern sport.
