Scottish Museums

Our magnificent collections of art encompass the 14th century up to the present day and we have preserved and displayed Scotland's national collection of art since 1859. The National Galleries of Scotland are four Edinburgh-based galleries and two outstations, one in the north and one in the south of Scotland.

The National Museums of Scotland show Scotland to the World and the World to Scotland through extensive collections built up over more than two centuries.

The National Museums Scotland online collections database features some of the museums' three million objects and specimens, ranging from the earliest times to the present day.
