Fosters, develops and coordinates research into all aspects of the Viking Age, with special emphasis on Scandinavian contacts with the British Isles, and on literary and linguistic sources for the period.

Sweden&#39 ; ;s oldest, largest and most important journal of prehistory and Medieval studies, and publishes Scandinavi a's largest reviews section in the field. The main fields are prehistori c archaeolog y, medieval archaeolog y, and Medieval art history, but the journal also covers runology, maritime archaeolog y, pre-Modern history, cultural resource management , iconograph y, history of scholarshi p & bibliograp hy, early architectu re, numismatic s, theory & methodolog y, osteology, and place names.

The National Heritage Board is the agency of the Swedish government that is responsible for heritage and historic environment issues. Our mission is to play a proactive, coordinating role in heritage promotion efforts and to ensure that the historic environment is preserved in the most effective possible manner.
