The household (i.e. the soldiers, captain, cooks, armourers and other camp-followers) of John Howard who became Duke of Norfolk in 1483.

The Oxford Household provide a recreation of a 15th Century encampment in which the liveried troops of the Earl of Oxford muster and train for battle. The primary fighting unit of the household is the bill block; heavy infantry equipped with polearms. These troops are supplement ed by archers and armoured knights. The troops and non-combat ants of the household provide an ongoing display of life in a medieval camp. Tents, weapons, armour and everyday items will be available for close inspection . Food is prepared, children are cared for and the troops arm for battle.

Our aim is to bring to the public a new and exciting interpreta tion of the period via our authentic and interactiv e portrayal of medieval military and civilian life.

An umbrella group for mediaeval groups in England and Wales. The WOTRF tries to be as authentic as possible in portraying living history, cameos, drill displays and battle re-enactme nts. Its member groups abide by a strict dress standard and safety rules.
