'Temple rings' (visochnye kol’tsa) are the most characteristic part of Slavic medieval dress to survive in burials, and are so-called because they are located on the skull, near the temples of the deceased woman or girl. Most were made of base metals - copper alloys or iron, though silver and even gold were occasionally used. This article provides analyses of several finds of such jewelry, with line drawings.
